FIFA numbers reveal Bosnia’s World Cup heroes: Mahmic scores, Alajbegovic shines, Demirovic runs relentlessly

FIFA has published detailed statistics for Bosnia and Herzegovina following the World Cup group stage, in which the Dragons secured a historic place in the knockout phase.

The numbers confirm the variety in Sergej Barbarez's team, while also revealing which Bosnia and Herzegovina players stood out in key areas of the game.

Mahmic top scorer, Memic sprint leader

Bosnia and Herzegovina's most efficient player after three matches is Ermin Mahmic, who scored two goals.

When it comes to physical performance, Amar Memic leads the way. In the matches against Canada, Switzerland and Qatar, he recorded as many as 137 sprints, the most of any Bosnia and Herzegovina player.

Kolasinac dominant in passing

Experienced defender Sead Kolasinac led the team in several important statistical categories.

According to FIFA, Kolasinac completed the most successful passes, with 138, and also broke opposition lines 43 times, more than any other Bosnia and Herzegovina player.

He also registered one assist, making him Bosnia and Herzegovina's leading provider after the group stage.

Demirovic tireless in both directions

Forward Ermedin Demirovic was the player with the highest workload on the pitch.

Across three matches, he covered a total of 30.04 kilometres, more than any other Bosnia and Herzegovina international.

Demirovic also led the team in pressing, applying pressure on opposition players 110 times.

Basic and Alajbegovic among the leaders

Midfielder Basic was the most active player in terms of attempts on goal, registering a total of four shots. He also stood out as the player with the highest number of successful take-ons.

Kerim Alajbegovic once again confirmed how important he is to Bosnia and Herzegovina's attacking play. FIFA's data shows that the young international received the ball between the opposition's midfield and defensive lines 36 times, more than any other Bosnia and Herzegovina player.

Sunjic the fastest

Ivan Sunjic earned the title of Bosnia and Herzegovina's fastest player after the group stage.

In the match against Qatar, he recorded the highest sprint speed among the Dragons, reaching 7.12 metres per second, according to FIFA's official data.

The statistics once again show that Bosnia and Herzegovina reached the knockout stage thanks to a collective effort and contributions from a wide range of players.

The next challenge is the Round of 32 clash against the United States.
